The Fleet

I love boats. I think *all* boats (or at least, I cannot think of a boat I don’t like, except for maybe cruise ships. Gross!) Anyway, here on this page are the boats I know and love as part of my fleet, current and past.

Katie Marie – My Main Squeeze

Katie is currently undergoing a transition to a completely custom build, interior and exterior, with an eye towards making her fit and comfortable for traveling long distances and voyaging about seascapes and oceans. Read more and see how things are progressing at the link below.

Lil Bit –

the Cricket

Only 14′ long and just 3′ wide, with her flat bottom she’ll go 26mph with only a 9.9hp Yamaha – kinda scary fun! Like driving a giant slalom ski. 🙂
The Cricket was produced in ’73 in Charleston, SC, and I found her on Bookface a couple years ago. Fixed up and modified completely, she is buckets of fun!

“MmmHmm” – the Adventure Skiff Rebuild

Starting with an old, neglected, beat-up and sodden 1978 12′ Custom Craft, I’ve built out a small, quick, light and surprisingly capable adventure craft. All composite epoxy and foam construction, she is designed to be difficult if not impossible to sink. She’ll carry enough gear in her stowage areas for a week or two, and I can even sleep aboard if needed. Powered by a 9.9 Yamaha 2-smoke, she’ll run up to 24mph when light.

It’s a ‘Yak Attack!

Two ‘rescued’ kayaks for the Fleet! Picked up when their owners left them in a home which was up for sale.
1) Current Designs Breeze, poly, 13′ 6″, for casual day paddles, perhaps an overnighter, or maybe weekend. Easy to use in twisty, turny creeks!
2) Dagger Cortez, poly, 16’6″ and a mere 22″ in width, she’s a touring needle, designed to eat up the miles of open water on longer trips.
